I have decided to take some time to talk about the journey I am currently on with my professional development and what that might look like over the next couple of years. I feel that this is important for all of my clients, past, present and future, to be a part of! Recently I have decided to pursue my Masters designation with the Muscle Activation Techniques organization. This is a huge undertaking and one that will take some time to complete, however, this is an exciting journey for me as I try to soak up as much knowledge as I can. By furthering my education, I will become a better Kinesiologist, personal trainer and Muscle Activation Technique Specialist.
Last year, I had the opportunity to take a Lower Extremity Master’s course in Denver, Colorado which was taught by some of the top MAT practitioners. I was somewhat overwhelmed by how much there was that I still needed to learn. I then realized that all of this was part of the excitement of being engaged in such an elite organization. Through these courses and the knowledge of my colleagues, I knew that everything I learned would improve my skillset and therefore become more of a value to my wonderful clients. The skills I have learned, and continue to learn, can instantly be put into practice throughout this process.
I was able to fly back down to Denver, Colorado for another Master’s course a few weeks ago, although this time focusing on the Trunk and Spine. I was blown away by the vast knowledge that our instructor had, and the amount I was able to soak up in a short time period. The complexity of the spine is astounding, yet there is an odd sense of simplicity to it as well. Once again, I was able to take these skills and instantly implement them into my M.A.T. and training sessions with my clients and saw great results with them!
The journey to date has been years in the making, and I am already excited and hopeful for the years to come. It is an exciting time for me and the Matrix of Motion community and I hope that my clients, friends and family can all benefit from the coursework that I have taken thus far as well as the courses to come. As I progress throughout this journey, I will certainly keep everyone up to date with new information that I have been exposed to and allow you to be a part of the process as well! I’m looking forward to my next trip down to Denver and can’t wait to share that with you!
