Last week Greg took my measurements, and explained his program. He carried out some physical tests that challenged strength in my ranges of motion. I was disappointed to become aware that my body is weaker than my mind believes. Through Muscle Activation Techniques (MAT), Greg treated the lack of reach on my left side. Afterwards, I proved more strength, and was able to extend beyond previous attempts.

This week we had an early start again on Tuesday at 5am. We jumped into resistance training, and worked through whole body exercises using different equipment. Greg made sure my techniques were on par, and that the challenges were appropriate. To be noted, I’ve experienced a few snowboarding injuries in the past. Greg made good suggestions to make me comfortable, but still challenged me.

We began talks about goals. Greg told me not to focus on losing weight, instead gain 5 lbs! You heard right, I should gain 5lbs of muscle. That was not what I wanted to hear. What I wanted to hear was, “let’s start this journey of fat loss by strenuous exercise and starvation”. I don’t really mean that. I’m serious about doing this right, and that means I need to trust Greg’s advice that we need to build muscle to burn fat.

Let’s gain weight, Greg!
