Gearing up for a workout starts by gaining momentum. It takes some oomph, and a good attitude.
I’ve always loved a good challenge and testing my body. I was on a soccer team, ran cross-country, and loved snowboarding as a child. After high school I took an interest in yoga, but my fitness history has generally become unstructured and sedentary. Here’s what I’ve noticed about how I engage physical activity:
1. Competition motivates me
2. I can easily lose interest,
3. The environment should be dynamic,
4. And, team encouragement necessary.
As you can imagine, exercising has become best known as a fleeting thought. Additionally, I’m a student, mother, and housewife. I’m managing various pursuits, which means my schedule is unpredictable and full. Besides my many fitness prerequisites, it takes courage to lace up and I’ve carefully considered why I would want to add this to my plate as well.
I know my body needs nourishment, discipline, and training. There are a number of excellent reasons to exercise. I want to be fit for all it’s worth, through increased control, energy, strength, flexibility, cardiovascular health, and to reduce stress. I want to show my body love and treat it well. Beyond personal benefits, I see this as an opportunity to set myself up to spend time with my daughters. Physical activity is a marker of childhood and adolescence. I want to participate in their activities, be their role model, coach, and inspiration. I’m committed to this, and am looking forward to sharing the progression of my training with Greg.
Cheers!
